Welcome to Tristate Food Not Lawns

Permaculture is a design system for sustainable living and for land use. It is an empowering response to environmental and social crisis.

Tri-state Food Not Lawns was founded by a group of recent Permaculture Design Course graduates. Our name is inspired by the book Food Not Lawns by Heather C. Flores, but we also draw inspiration from other Permaculture luminaries, such as co-founders Bill Mollison and David Holmgren, as well as from our teachers and associates. We have all been students of Permaculture, and most of us have either completed or are working towards a Permaculture Design Certificate. The members of Tristate Food Not Lawns are also involved in local Peak Oil and environmental activism.

We've done it!

Congratulations to all of us at Tristate Food Not Lawns! Our team is extremely gratified to launch this site which is a first step in the realization of our initial idea to create an online informational "clearing house" and forum for all things related to permaculture and sustainable design within the Tristate area. We seek to promote a dialogue and the sharing of information, resources and ideas which will lead to the development and implementation of specific projects or workshops related to permaculture and sustainability. Our hope is to bring people together to learn more about the nature and causes of societies' ills so that we may consciously change the current destructive course and begin to re-design our communities in ways that honor and care for the earth and the people. As we move forward together with this "ground breaking" venture, we welcome your ideas, suggestions and participation.

Viva la Terra!
